St. George’s Bridge is Closed for Repair Work as of 9-10-18
Over the weekend the Army Corps issued a reminder that the St. Georges Bridge will be closed for months of repair work.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced the St. Georges Bridge will be closed to all traffic from Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, through January of 2019. The Army Corps and its contractor will be completing repair work of steel beams necessitating the closure.
Motorists are advised to use the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. (SR-1) Bridge as a detour route.
The Army Corps awarded a $3.7 million contract to Freyssinet, Inc. in February 2018 for steel beam repairs. St. Georges Bridge was constructed in 1941.
